Nicki Renck - Preschool Teacher
Mrs. Renck is a preschool teacher in the 4-year-old classroom. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Professional Nanny Diploma. She has 14 years of experience of working in childcare centers and schools. She has also been a private nanny for 5 years. Before that she was a peer mentor to children with special needs in High School and a babysitter. She previously worked at the Gardner School for 6 years.
Mrs. Renck knows the importance of early education and strives to give young children experiences that will set them up for success for the rest of their learning career.
Mrs. Renck has been married to her high school sweetheart, Mike, for almost 7 years. They have two dogs, Axel and Trixie, that they call thier furbabies. She enjoys working in her flower and vegetable gardens, watching movies, fishing, crafting, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Renck and her husband just had thier first child. Our son Michael is the greatest honor God has given us.
Dennise McIntosh - Preschool Teacher
This is Mrs. Dennise McIntosh’s first year at St. Patrick Catholic School. She previously taught Kindergarten at St. Edward and Preschool at Crestwood Methodist. Mrs. McIntosh has a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Kentucky University. She has completed graduate courses at UofL and IUS. This will be her 30th year as a teacher. Dennise and her husband Bryan live in Eastwood and have two grown sons. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, nature, reading, Bible Study, walking, and skiing. Mrs. McIntosh is grateful and excited to be part of the St. Patrick School Community!

Tamara Barton - Director of Preschool
Mrs. Barton will lead the preschool program at St Patrick Catholic School. A native of Louisville, KY, Mrs. Barton attended Morehead State University and the University of Louisville. She previously worked nine years at the St. Matthews Baptist Church Parents Day Out and the Preschool programs. Most recently, she cared for infants at Highland Community Ministries.
She sees children as a gift from God and truly enjoys every opportunity to engage a child in the learning experience. She looks forward to working with the 4 year-olds at St. Patrick.
Mrs. Barton has been married to her husband, Steve, for 30 years. They have three sons Jacob, Nathanial and Ben. The Bartons attend Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mrs. Barton enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs, reading, antiquing and Revolutionary War reenacting.

Shannon Pritchett - Kindergarten Teacher
Shannon Pritchett has taught Kindergarten in Catholic Schools for 27 years - the last 15 at St. Patrick Catholic School. Before moving to Louisville, Mrs. Pritchett taught in Nashville and Memphis, TN. Mrs. Pritchett says, “teaching is my passion, my love and my calling. I truly love what I do! Teaching is filled with endless rewards. My classroom is a positive, loving classroom where children feel comfortable to discover, explore and learn about God, His great love and awesome creation”.
My amazing family and I are active members of St. Patrick Catholic Community. All three of our children graduated from St. Patrick Catholic School. Our oldest plays baseball for Bellarmine University, our middle son is a Freshman at Western Kentucky University and our youngest is a senior at Assumption and loves Art. Our lives revolve around their sports and I love being a "Sport's Mom".
Mrs. Pritchett attended St. Louis University, received my teaching degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Masters in Education from Indiana University Southeast. Mrs. Pritchett has a Master Catechist Certification from University of Dayton.

Madelyn Blue - Junior Kindergarten teacher
Ms. Blue is in her 2nd year at St. Patrick. Ms. Blue is a Louisville native and went to school out West, and started her teaching career in Scottsdale, Arizona. She moved back home to Louisville after that. She earned her undergraduate degree in Education and Veterinary Science with a minor in Spanish, at The University of Arizona. Ms. Blue has experience working in traditional and non-traditional public school settings in addition to private education sectors.
Ms. Bluel is also a student attending a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Phoenix. Upon completion, she comes to St Patrick with 16 years of teaching experience. Her teaching experience includes a stint in Guadalajara teaching English as a Second Language. She enjoys spending time with her 2 dogs, Sadie and Chloe. Ms. Blue is an avid runner who completes ultra-marathons. She loves to be with her family and friends. She is very happy teaching God's children.
Sarah Rueff - Kindergarten Teacher

Stacy Sauer is in her second year of teaching Kindergarten at St. Patrick's. She received a Bachelor's and Master's in Early Elementary education from the University of Louisville. Mrs. Sauer has 25 years of experience as a kindergarten teacher in the Archdiocese of Louisville.
She is passionate about Catholic Education and enjoys watching children grow in their faith. She and her husband David have two daughters, Jillian and Brenna, who are products of Catholic schools and currently attend Bellarmine University and the University of Louisville Brandeis Law School. In her free time, Mrs. Sauer enjoys spending time with family, gardening, and exploring new places. Mrs. Sauer is excited to be a part of the Saint Patrick Community!

Rachel Allen - 1st grader teacher
Rachel Allen teaches first grade at St. Patrick. She taught first grade in Shelby County before joining us at St. Patrick in 2017. Born and raised in Louisville, Rachel went to Ascension and Sacred Heart Academy. She loves working in a Catholic school just like the ones she attended. Rachel graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky. She also has a Master’s degree in Elementary Education Teacher Leadership with a Math Specialist concentration. Rachel enjoys cycling, playing tennis, traveling, and crafting.

Angel Willett - 1st Grade Teacher
Mrs. Willett is a native of Louisville. Mrs. Willett graduated with high honors from the University of Louisville with a degree in Early Childhood Education in 1991. She earned a Masters of Education in 1994 from the University of Louisville.
Mrs. Willett has taught in the Archdiocese of Louisville for 25 years teaching kindergarten, first, and second grade. She has been a member of the St. Patrick faculty for 12 years. Catholic education has been an important part of Mrs. Willett’s life. She attended grade school at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and high school at Holy Rosary Academy. Mrs. Willett welcomes the opportunity to share her faith with the children she teaches. She is currently teaching first grade.
Mrs. Willett lives in Louisville's south end with her husband, Greg, where they share the excitement and joy of raising four children, Amber, Megan, Tyler and Haylee. They are members of Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish. Mrs. Willett enjoys watching her children play sports, reading, and spending time with her family.

Sloan Mattingly teaches third grade at Saint Patrick School. This will be her third year of teaching elementary education. Sloan graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor's degree in elementary education. She will soon have her Master’s degree in Literacy Specialist from University of the Cumberlands.
Sloan enjoys traveling, being active, and spending time with family and friends.

Shannon Tyra was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. Catholic education has always been an important part of Ms. Tyra's life. She attended Ascension Catholic School and Sacred Heart Academy. She earned her B.A in Early Childhood Education from the University of Kentucky and a Masters Degree in Education from Spalding University.
Ms. Tyra has 17 years teaching experience. She taught 4th grade at Holy Trinity School for 9 years. She began working at St. Patrick in 2012 and is currently teaching 3rd grade. She lives in Norton Commons with her daughter Sydney, her son, Cooper, and her dogs Emma and Stella. She enjoys shopping,traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Shelby James - 4th Grade Teacher
Shelby James currently teaches 4th Grade ELA and Social Studies at St. Patrick . She began her teaching career at St. Patrick in 2016. She previously substitute taught for Shelby County Public Schools, and JCPS. Shelby graduated from St. Nicholas Academy, Eastern High School, then went on to the University of Louisville. She has a BS in Elementary Education with a concentration in Social Studies, and is starting her masters program in the near future. Shelby enjoys reading, painting, and spending time with her friends, family, and her husband. She loves being a 4th grade teacher, and loves teaching at St. Patrick!

Carol Murphy - 4th Grade Teacher
Carol Murphy was born and educated in Louisville where she graduated from St. Matthias grade school and Angela Merici High School. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Louisville and spent twenty years working in the financial field. She received a Master’s degree in Teaching from Spalding University in 2004 and joined the faculty of St. Patrick the following year.
Carol was married for 32 years and has two daughters, Megan and Erin. Both of her daughters graduated from St. Gabriel School. Megan then graduated from Assumption High School and the University of Louisville. Erin graduated from Mercy Academy and Western Kentucky University. Carol has been involved in and touched by Catholic education all her life.

Teresa Pina - Science
Kristi Burge - 5th Grade Teacher
Kristi Burge is a fifth grade teacher and choreographer for St. Patrick School. She has been at St. Patrick since 2002 teaching Kindergarten, Middle School Fine Arts, fourth grade, and fifth grade. She graduated Cum Laude from Bellarmine University and received her master’s degree in Teacher Leadership from the University of Louisville with a focus in Teaching Reading. Along with choreographing school musicals, Kristi goes on mission trips with our middle school students and serves on the Emergency Response Committee among others.
Kristi enjoys Bible Study, theater, singing, dancing, Refit, Yoga, and reading. She has performed with Stage One, Musical Theater of Louisville, Northern Kentucky University Theater, and Bellarmine University Theater. Her favorite thing to do is spend time with her husband, Bobby, and her son, Josh. She occasionally assists Bobby with his business, Robert Burge Photography.

Brittany Howell - 5th Grade Teacher
Mrs. Brittany Howell has been a part of St. Patrick since August 2016 and is currently a 5th grade English and Social Studies teacher. She previously served as the Technology Resource Teacher and Instructional Coach. Prior to St. Patrick, she has experience in public schools and as a Literacy Specialist for the National Center for Families Learning.
Brittany attended St. Margaret Mary and Assumption High School. She is a believer in Catholic education and loves sharing her love of Christ and learning with her students. She earned her Bachelor of Business in Accounting at the University of Kentucky before returning to earn her teaching certificate at Indiana University Southeast. She has a Masters in Elementary Education with a Concentration in Reading also from Indiana University Southeast.
Brittany and her husband, Chris are members of the Cathedral of the Assumption and enjoy participating in agility activities with their dog, Baxter. She also enjoys Bible study, reading, and advocating for animals.
Olivia Leftwich - 5th Grade Homeroom and Spanish
Olivia Leftwich will begin her first year at St. Patrick School as the Elementary Spanish Teacher.
Ms. Leftwich is from Greenville, SC and has been living in Louisville for 2 years now. She moved here after graduating from Centre College in 2015 with a BA in English Literature and a minor in Spanish. Immediately following college she entered into an AmeriCorps VISTA program at the Backside Learning Center here in Louisville, KY- a nonprofit organization geared towards helping/providing resources for the Latino population of workers at Churchill Downs. She pursued certification in the art of Translation and Interpretation, but came to find that teaching and being in the classroom was her passion.
She comes to us from a kindergarten assistant position at Saint Mary Academy. Ms. Leftwich has been a swimmer for the majority of her life and was a member of the Centre College swim team. She is very excited to be a member of the St. Patrick family and is looking forward to the coming year.
Libby Buckley - 6th Grade Teacher
Mrs. Libby Buckley was hired in June 2019 as the 6th Grade Math and Religion teacher. Mrs. Buckley has been teaching for 9 years and has experience in both public and Catholic schools in Louisville. This will be her sixth year teaching 6th Grade!
Mrs. Buckley has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Bellarmine University. She grew up in Clarksburg, WV.
Mrs. Buckley has been married to Scott for 11 years. Together they have two sons, Everett and Owen, that also attend St. Patrick School. They have a dog named Ninja and a cat named Sasha. An avid reader, Mrs. Buckley has a goal to read 75 books each year. She also enjoys pilates, attending her sons’ sporting events, arts and crafts, and anything outside. She is very excited to be a part of the St. Pats family!
Kathleen Nilsen - 6th Grade Teacher
Mrs. Nilsen received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Geography from Arizona State University and her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Economics from University of Louisville.
Previous teaching experience includes teaching 5th grade in Arizona and 3rd-8th grade Social Studies and 4th-5th grade Science for a variety of schools within the Archdiocese of Louisville. She took a break to raise her five children and decided to return to the classroom in 2011 when she joined the St. Patrick Faculty.
Mrs. Nilsen teaches 6th grade Science and Geography at St. Patrick. She enjoys using a hands-on approach to teaching using computers, learning centers and lab experiments. She has brought the annual “Invention Convention” to our school where students create, market and promote their own Inventions.
Mrs. Nilsen spends her spare time with her husband Sean and their five children. She enjoys reading historical fiction, sewing, walking and visiting her family in Arizona.
Maria Alfaya - 7th Grade Homeroom and Spanish
¡Hola! My name is Maria Alfaya and I am thrilled to be teaching Spanish for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades at St. Patrick School!
I am originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. When I was young (a long, long, long time ago), I played professional volleyball for 10 years. I have a B.S. in Education from an Argentinian College and a Master’s Degree in Exceptional Education, Learning and Behavior Disorders from Western Kentucky University. I lived in Canada and different cities in the USA. I have taught in Public, Independent, and Catholic schools, and I am very excited to start my second year of teaching at such a wonderful school like St. Patrick!
I have several hobbies, but my favorite ones are spending time with my family and traveling!
Together, we are going to have a fantastic year!
Josh Nathanson - 7th Grade Teacher
Mr. Joshua Nathanson is starting his 1st year at St. Patrick, teaching 7th and 8th Social Studies Grade. He is originally from Warwick, Rhode Island. Mr. Nathanson graduated from the University of Louisville with a B.S in Middle/Secondary Education, with a concentration in Social Studies. Before moving to Louisville he served as an Infantryman in the U.S Army for six years, reaching the rank of Sergeant. He has been married for five years and is expecting his first child this year.

Ms. Sarah Pierce is beginning her 3rd year at St. Patrick, now serving as the seventh grade English and Literature teacher. Born and raised in Louisville, Sarah attended Louisville Male Traditional High School. She then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of Louisville with a B.S. in Middle/Secondary English. In December of 2017, Sarah completed her MEd in Teacher Leadership through the University of Louisville. During her time at the University of Louisville, Sarah was also a five year member of the Louisville Ladybirds Dance Team. She enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. This school year, Sarah will also be coaching the 7th and 8th grade field hockey team and working with the St. Patrick Drama Department for both the Fall and Spring Musicals.
Molly Mershon - 8th Grade Teacher
Patrick Riley - 8th Grade Science Teacher
This is Mr. Riley's third year teaching 7th & 8th grade science at St. Patrick. Pat is from Louisville, graduated from Trinity High School and the University of Louisville. He earned both his BS in Environmental/Urban Geography and his MAT. He is certified in Earth Science.
Pat has taught for JCPS at the middle and high school levels teaching Biology, Chemistry and Earth Science. He has coached high school football for 31 years with stops at Trinity, Eastern and CAL. He is in his starting his eighth season at CAL.
Pat is looking forward to another great year at St. Patrick.
Kristal Bruce - Music
Mrs. Kristal Bruce is in her third year at St. Patrick and became music teacher at St. Patrick Catholic School in August 2018. Prior to this, she taught at St. Raphael, St. Rita, and Mason County Middle/High schools. This is her 17th year of music teaching, grades preschool through high school.
Mrs. Bruce graduated from Scott County High School in Georgetown, KY, in 1997. She attended Eastern Kentucky University and received her Bachelors of Music Education in 2001. She also completed her Masters of Music Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 2010. While at Eastern, she was heavily involved in all of the music programs available, including Symphonic Band and Marching Band, as well as principal clarinet chairs for Orchestra. She was a member of the EKU Clarinet Choir in 2009, that had traveled to many clarinet festivals, including the International Clarinet Association conference in Washington and the Clarinetfest in Oklahoma. She adores performing with other musical groups, both in and out of church.
Mrs. Bruce enjoys serving God and her community as an educator, everything music and quilting, and spending time with her family. Kristal and her husband, Mike, have three sons, Conner, Jackson, and Jason, and a very aged cat named Einstein. They love being outdoors and praising HIS name!

Karen Siriano - Drama
Mrs. Karen Sirianno began directing musicals at St. Patrick Catholic School in January 2002. She has directed and produced over 30 shows featuring hundreds of students from Kindergarten to 8th grade. She has been teaching Music/Drama in the middle school for 11 years, where students not only learn about the history of music and theater, but they also get introduced to the art of public speaking and acting techniques.
Karen has performed on stage in several productions such as My Fair Lady, Blue Plate Special, Cabaret, Steel Magnolias, and A Streetcar Named Desire; she has also appeared in regional commercials and on national television programs such as “Regis and Kathie Lee” and “Not Just News”.
Before coming to Louisville, Karen was the Program Manager of U.S. SPACE CAMP in Huntsville Alabama, a large-scale educational camp, that saw 10,000 annual participants come from all over the world to enjoy a week of space experiences. Karen is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville where she received a Bachelor of Arts in History and English. Karen resides in Simpsonville, Kentucky with her husband, Tom, and her sons, Mitch and Mark.
